I am not ashamed. It is Christmas after all and I will admit to you all that there are new additions to my cookbook collection. I had seen the Gordon Ramsay series on TV and unashamedly dropped hints to Andrew that it would be the perfect Christmas present. I even took him to 'Waterstones' and showed him the book personally "Do you know that book I said I wanted for Christmas?" I asked "Yeh" he replied as he failed to take his eye's off his i-phone. I took it off the shelf and pushed it between his nose and the phone. "Well, this is it" I snorted. "Oh right mum, I'll try and remember". This did not fill me with much confidence but he did not disappoint and Christmas morning brought the much sought after book and the first recipe, Beef Wellington, was cooked on New Year's Eve.
The other addition was Delia Smith How to Cook - Book 1 was purchased whilst visiting my in-laws just before Christmas. I had been dragged into a few charity shops and found an immaculate copy of this book for £2.50. How could I refuse? I have had Book 2 for years and have been missing the complete set - however, let's see if I cook more from this one than Book 2. I am shameless!
Having now finished with the festive season I am now going to work hard getting all of the details on the cookbooks updated, so that you have some background on them, which may help you decide if you would like to explore them further.
This year, Andrew and I are travelling to India for a month, in mid March, to do some yoga and will be eating living/raw food for all of that time so look out for reports on our progress. We will also be visiting our friends in France in May and the family holiday will be in Belgium in July/August as Mike is to take us on a battlefield tour of Waterloo and Andrew has no intention of turning down the chance of a free holiday during the summer holidays.
I hope you will have some fun sharing our culinary journey with us.
Wishing you all, all that you wish during the forthcoming year.
