Surprisingly I never caught Gino's television programme but this book caught my eye whilst I was browsing in Waterstones. The book itself is very tactile with glossy pages and beautifully shot pictures for each recipe, something I find very inspiring as I can have some difficulty imagining the finished product.
He makes me smile and reminds me a little of Vincent Simone from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Slightly over the top with the Italian charm with the tongue firmly placed in his cheek!
I have cooked a couple of things from his book with some success, including the Roasted Lamb Shank in Red Wine Sauce with Italian Mashed Potatoes on page 94 (the potatoes were outstanding!), as well as Spicy Gammon Steak with Mascarpone Peas on page 69.
I have only scratched the surface of this book and will delve a little bit further before too long. Certainly would recommend it to others.
