My sister bought me this book one Christmas and it captures the style of British cooking in the late 1980's to early 1990's. As I was going through my Chinese phase during this time I have never delved much into this book but have cooked the Dorset Jugged Steak on Page 132 which was really delicious. About a quarter of the book is taken up with an exploration of the regions of Britain before listing the recipes with quite a lot of pictures to help get the inspirational juices flowing. English food during this period was not very inspiring and I have to confess that I am still uninspired by it's contents as I flick through it.
