Two Greedy Italians by Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo

Two Greedy Italians by Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo

I caught a few episodes of this series on television and know little about Gennaro beyond his relationship with Jamie Oliver. Antonio Carluccio, however, I consider one of the best Italian chefs with an enormous knowledge and appetite for great Italian food. I needed little further encouragement to buy this book as soon as I saw it in the shops. It has not, however been as popular as some of his other creations but I have tried a few recipes and the Pork Fillet with Honey and Ginger on page 126 along with the Risotto with Pecorino, Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar on Page 79 become a firm family favourites. I had a terrible experience with Gennaro's mixed meat ragu on Page 124 where some of the meat was really chewy and I have to be honest it put me off the book a bit. However, to be fair it may have had more to do with my choice of meat than the recipe. The book is nicely put together with lots of inspiring photography and information. I shall be getting it off my shelf soon and trying something new.
